The General
Education Development Test, or GED,
is a test that certifies the taker has attained high school-level
academic skills. The GED is taken by individuals who did not
obtain a high school diploma.
Individuals that pass the test receive a General Equivalency
Diploma, which is also called a GED.
More than 15 million students have received the GED since its
inception. One in every seven Americans with high school credentials
received the GED, as well as one in twenty college students.
In addition to English, the GED test is available in Spanish,
French, large print, audiocassette, and braille.

Apprenticeship
training
programs are most often associated with what are known as "skilled
trades" or occupations, such as those related to construction
and building, however they may also include other occupations
like firefighting, millwrights, automotive and civil service.
Typically
an apprenticeship training program will last between 2-5 years
and include both classroom and hands-on training. Upon
successful completion of the paid training program an apprentice
is certified as having Journeyman level skills and is ready
to embark on a high-paying career in their selected field.
