"It is not indeed consistent with reason or justice, to expect that one set of men should make a sacrifice of property, domestic ease and happiness, encounter the rigors of the field, the perils and vicissitudes of war to obtain these blessings which every citizen will enjoy, in common with them, without some compensation."

- George Washington, 1790

Veterans and their families can access special services at the Yuba County One Stop.

Representatives of the County Veterans Services Office, as well as the veteran's representatives from the California Employment Development Department are always available to work with our local veterans and their families. Services include assistance with resolving veteran's VA claims, one-on-one job search services and referrals to other programs or agencies that may provide training and other supportive services to veterans and their families.

Beale Air Force Base in Yuba County is the proud home of many service men and women, who along with their families are an integral piece of our local community. The Yuba County One Stop partnership knows that these military families need the same variety of service in the workforce as their civilian counterparts.

The One Stop, working in cooperation with the Beale AFB Family Support Center, can provide a wide range of services to assist military personnel in their transition from military service to the civilian community. Eligible military spouses may also receive a variety of services intended to assist them in becoming a valuable asset to the local workforce. Military families that are new to the area can find a wealth of useful local information at the Yuba County One Stop.

Veterans Stand Down

Hosted by the Yuba Sutter Veterans Stand Down Committee, this annual three day event is held each August at the Pavilion Arena area in River Front Park in Marysville, CA.

The term 'stand down" comes from the Vietnam war where soldiers were given the opportunity to stand down from their stressful wartime duties in the field to get some hot food and a shower, maybe take care of some personal business or get medical treatment or other services that they couldn't get in the field.

The Yuba-Sutter Stand Down event offers the same opportunity to local veterans who may be experiencing difficult lifestyles and need a break or services normally not available to them.  Free services available at the stand down include:

  • Temporary shelter
  • Hot food and free clothing
  • Health screenings and services
  • Employment and legal services
  • Help with government benefits
  • Referrals to other community programs and services
